Mobile apps and future of software development

The must for mobile apps, regardless if they are done for iPhone OS, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian, newly declared BADA or anything else, is that they should be lightweight, simple to operate by buttons or a stylus, and contain the most-wanted features only. Apps are simple. And it is simple and fast to develop them. In average it takes from 2 up to 4 weeks for developers to understand peculiarities of a new mobile OS and start working on it at a good level. Well, of course it would depend on a developer's learning abilities, but still :).

So, the question is if the recent popularity of mobile apps will influence approaches to development of consumer software?

First spring lights cheered up political and economical activities in the city. For a few days one could observe prime-minister's cortège running along the roads of Novosibirsk. Mr. Putin came to discuss perspectives of the region development.

"Exactly here, in Siberia interaction between science, education and production is well-coordinated. We well support it and reproduce in other regions" - said the prime-minister.

As we see them, traditions of celebration Easter are almost the same in Russia (with Orthodox Church's dominate role) and Western Europe (with more influence of Catholic Church). The only visible difference is the day of celebration which only occasionally (as in this year) match. But what is interesting, in both cultures there are events celebrated just before the Lent and Easter, and these events differ greatly.

Update on HaRusel - mastering Grails

We use Grails in HaRusel. And as we're moving through thorough testing and creating a really nice demo, we've happened to hit a lot of Grails' bugs. Some were really funny - like the method of a class can be simply lost by Grails in multithreading mode.

Russian gender holidays

Only recently in post-soviet Russian history Mother's day was introduced. There is Father's day but it's actually the one people celebrate in the US. It's not official holidays in Russia anyway, so in fact not many Russians are aware about the exact dates for those. Well, Mother's Day is celebrated last Sunday of November, but I had to google it.

Instead of those, from Soviet times we still celebrate February, 23rd and March, 8th.

The U.S. celebrities in Siberia

What would bring foreigners to Siberia?

In 2008 Novosibirsk was crowded with tourists from all over the world due to total solar eclipse. But could you believe that the US celebrities, whose names (or their companies names) are known all over the world could come here in winter when even locals suffer from frosts?
